Join us this evening for a discussion on Hannah Kent’s debut novel Burial Rites. The critically acclaimed novel is being made into a feature film starring Jennifer Lawrence. The greatest appeal of this book for me is the rich landscape of Iceland and the strong images Kent’s historic writing evokes. The isolated stark environment of Vatnsnes seeps slowly into your bones and in many ways is its own character within the novel. The reader is driven into the engaging story through the slow revealing of events as told by the convicted murderess Agnes.
